Checkmk alerts: NocMate, email, Slack & Pushover
There are several useful ways to receive Checkmk alerts. The choice depends on whether you need notifications, team conversations, or mobile host and service views with monitoring actions.
| Option | Notifications | Use case |
|---|---|---|
| Delivery to a mailbox; alerts depend on the email client. | Checkmk events as email; details and actions in the monitoring interface. | |
| Slack | Messages in a Slack channel using an incoming webhook. | Useful for team conversations; Checkmk live views remain separate. |
| Pushover | Mobile push; Checkmk integration uses app and user/group keys. | General notification service for multiple sources. |
| NocMate | Push to Apple devices using a NocMate User Key and notification script. | Also provides live status, acknowledgment and downtime actions; optional Connect for private instances. |
Which option fits your workflow?
Email fits a mailbox-centered workflow. Slack fits teams discussing alerts in channels. Pushover fits general push notifications from multiple applications. NocMate fits mobile Checkmk monitoring and incident actions on iPhone or Mac. These options can complement each other.
Push and live access are different
The NocMate push script sends events outbound and does not need inbound access to your Checkmk site. Live views and actions require access to the instance with appropriate user permissions. NocMate Connect optionally provides an outbound connection for private instances.
